A fantastic afternoon and evening was had by all who attended the Christmas pool tournament at Audley Cricket Club on Thursday 28th December.
The event was well attended by senior and junior players but also members/non-members, families and their children.
The early rounds were single-game knockout matches with the semi-finals and final being "best of 3". Some disappointed Audley Cricket Club "league" pool players went out early doors in the tournament despite "warming up" extensively before the tournament started.
The first semi-final was contested by Gary Latham and Richard Beckett. Gary took the first game with Beckett coming back to win 2-1.
Reigning and defending Champion Ian "Quacky" Wilshaw went out in the 2nd Semi-Final 2-0 vs Jimmy Rogers.
Richard Beckett took on Jimmy Rogers in the final. Again Beckett went 1-0 down, only to come back to win the final 2-1 becoming the new champion and winning the £70 prize with Jimmy pocketing £30 as the runner-up.
The pool tournament final was followed up by a few games of "Killer" with Becko crashing out very early in both games, however, the £70 he had won as champion made him feel much better about it all............
See you all for the next pool tournament in 2024.
