End of an Era: Jim Rogers Hangs Up the Pads

A true one-club stalwart steps down from playing duties after a legendary journey through the Audley ranks

As the curtain falls on the 2026 season, we bring you news of a major milestone in our history. Jim Rogers has officially retired from playing cricket, bringing an end to a remarkable career on the field.

In an era where player movement between clubs is the norm, Jim stands out as an absolute rarity: a dedicated one-club man. From his earliest days pulling on the whites as a junior right through to representing our 1st XI with distinction, Jim has spent his entire life wearing the Audley colours. His loyalty, commitment, and passion for our badge have been constant throughout every stage of his playing days.

In addition to his senior appearances across the teams, Jim provided outstanding leadership on the field. He captained our 2nd XI for a number of years, expertly guiding the side to silverware— lifting the Talbot Shield Cup Competition in both 2013 and 2016.

Career Numbers
Over a monumental senior career spanning 473 games, Jim’s numbers reflect his incredible service to the club both with the bat and behind the stumps:

  • Games & Innings: 473 appearances,
  • Runs Scored: 7,686 runs at an average of 20.44
  • Milestones: 1 century (highest score 100*) and 30 half-centuries
  • Wicket-Keeping & Fielding: 358 catches and 126 stumpings (476 total dismissals)

While his presence in the side will be sorely missed when next spring arrives, Jim’s tireless work off the pitch is far from over. In recent years, he has taken on crucial roles that keep our club thriving—coaching our Under 9s, serving as an active member of our executive committee, and driving our sponsorship initiatives alongside our social media channels.

We are delighted to confirm that Jim will be continuing all of these essential off-field responsibilities. So while you won't see him out in the middle next season, you will still catch him around the ground coaching the next generation, securing vital support for the club, and keeping you all updated online.
Please join us all in thanking Jim for an incredible playing career and for his continuing dedication to Audley Cricket Club!
