Former player, Captain, and League captain David Fairbanks has been appointed coach at Kent Hills for the 2024 Season.
Current 1ST team captain Robert Hemmings said “It was a no-brainer asking Fairy to come back. He understands the dynamics of the club inside out, the club is ingrained in him and I feel he still has a lot to offer being a young coach”
Fairbanks, who recently became a father in 2023 said “Having taken a few years out and having a baby daughter, I now feel the time is right to return in 2024 and the opportunity to return to Audley was an offer to good to refuse. Rob did an unbelievable job in their first season returning to the top flight. To have been in with a shout of finishing 3rd in some of the players' “rookie” season is an outstanding achievement.
Audley last won the premier league in 2007 and Fairbanks was a part of that winning team and he has already noticed the parallels between then and now.
“What we had then was very similar to what I’ve observed this year. A young crop of talented individuals and friends working for one another. I haven’t seen it since the days of Frint and Big Dan, there is a trust process there with the foundations already in place. Credit must go to the cricket committee for investing and believing in these lads. If the likes of Redders, Aulty, Olly Wilde, Huey Nield, Greeny, Tom Boundy, Finn Beswick, Ben Mellor, and Billy Jones can all stick together - I believe that there are exciting times ahead for the club”
Welcome back fairy. There’ll be more exciting news to follow next week.
